You may be eligible if you:
- You must have owned a property in fee simple in one of the participating counties: Alcona, Alpena, Arenac, Bay, Cheboygan, Clare, Crawford, Genesee, Gladwin, Gratiot, Huron, Isabella, Jackson, Lapeer, Lenawee, Macomb, Midland, Monroe, Montmorency, Ogemaw, Oscoda, Otsego, Presque Isle, Roscommon, Saginaw, Sanilac, St Clair, or Tuscola.
- The property must have been foreclosed through a real property tax foreclosure during the
- (January 1, 2013 through December 31, 2020).
- The property must have been sold at tax auction for more than the Minimum Sale Price (taxes, fees, and costs owed).
- The County must not have refunded the Surplus Proceeds to you.
- You must submit a valid claim form by the deadline.
What you can receive
Each Class Member who submits a valid claim will usually receive 125% of the surplus proceeds from the sale of the property less the amount the court awards to cover attorney’s fees and costs.
