When a manufacturer sells a car with a known defect, the law says owners can be made whole. Hyundai and Kia Multistate Immobilizer has reached a class action settlement. If your vehicle matches the class definition, you can file a claim directly with the settlement administrator.
You may be eligible if you:
- Eligible Vehicles:
- Hyundai and Kia vehicles manufactured without an engine immobilizer that are registered in one of the participating states.
- Qualifying Incident:
- The vehicle must have experienced a Qualifying Theft or Qualifying Theft Attempt on or after
- Software Requirement:
- At the time of the theft, the vehicle must have had the anti-theft software upgrade installed, or the owner must have had an appointment scheduled for the upgrade.
- The theft must have occurred before the vehicle received the free zinc-reinforced ignition cylinder protector installation or by March 31, 2027.
- Vehicles that have already received the zinc sleeve installation prior to the theft are not eligible for restitution.
What you can receive
Eligible consumers can receive up to $4,500 for total vehicle loss, $2,250 for partial loss, and $375 for theft attempt expenses. Additionally, a free zinc-reinforced ignition cylinder protector installation is available.
